… town and county seat, central Burke County. Est. 1784 as Morgansborough. Alt. 1,182. Named for Gen. Daniel Morgan (1736?-1802), Revolutionary War leader. Western Piedmont Community College, est. 1966, is located there. Produces furniture, electronic components, hosiery, apparel, textiles, and dairy products.
