Mount Gilead

… town in SW Montgomery County. Settled by 1835, when a post office was est. there. Inc. 1899. Originally called Providence and was part of a 1797 land grant to William Scarborough. Named for the biblical mountain. Alt. 421. Produces shoes, hosiery, textiles, and apparel.
