Longs Island

… name applied on the Ogilby map, 1671, to the land now in NW New Hanover County between the Brunswick and Cape Fear Rivers N of Eagles Island. The peninsula was formerly an island when Fishing Creek flowed between the two rivers. See also Longs Delight.
