Weldon
Also known as: Weldon's Orchard, Weldon's Place, Weldans
… town in N Halifax County on Roanoke River. Inc. 1843. The Collet map, 1770, shows "Weldans," perhaps referring to the family name of the owner of the land. Town site settled prior to 1830, when it was known as Weldon's Orchard or Weldon's Place for Daniel Weldon, owner. In 1834 it became the terminus of a railroad from Virginia.
