St. George's Parish
Church of England, Northampton County, est. 1758 when Northwest Parish was divided. The W part became St. George's and, after 1759, when the E part of Northampton became a part of Hertford County, the parish was coextensive with the county. In 1767 there were 1,600 white taxables living in the parish. Records of St. George's Parish, 1773-1814, are in the North Carolina State Archives, Raleigh.
