North River

… rises in Dismal Swamp, E Camden County and flows S approx. 18 mi. into Albemarle Sound. For a part of its course, it forms the boundary between Camden and Currituck Counties. Above Thoroughfare Island it is sometimes known as Indiantown Creek. Shown as Potaskike River on the Comberford map, 1657, but as North River on the Ogilby map, 1671, and subsequent maps.
