St. John's Parish

Church of England, Carteret County, probably was est. with the formation of the county in 1722. It is mentioned as early as 1724. Coextensive with the county. In 1767 there were 470 white taxables in the parish. The vestry book of St. John's Parish, 1742-43, in 3 volumes, is in the North Carolina State Archives, Raleigh.
