Battleboro

… town in NE Nash and SW Edgecombe Counties. Inc. 1872. Had its origin about 1840 as a railroad depot in a rich agricultural area. The station was named for James and Joseph Battle, stockholders in the Wilmington and Raleigh Railroad. Produces lumber. Annexed by Rocky Mount, 2002. Alt. 131.
