Shallowbag Bay

… a bay in Roanoke Sound off the NE shore of Roanoke Island, E Dare County. The bay forms the harbor at the town of Manteo. In the late eighteenth century, it was referred to as Shalon-bas Bay (French chalonbas, "low trawl net"). Roanoke voyages-period vessel Elizabeth II, a reproduction, rests in bay.
