Basin, The

… a body of water at the S tip of New Hanover County. The Cape Fear River on the W is separated from The Basin by a dam; New Inlet on the Atlantic Ocean side permits access from Onslow Bay. The Brunswick-New Hanover county line divides The Basin near its center.
